I woke up to a bad headache. I almost did not feel the week went by, as I was working til Saturday swamped with back to back meetings and errands. I was so stressed that my lower back is constantly in pain, and now I’m having symptoms of IBS – bloating, diarrhea, discomfort, even reflux. Where have all the better days gone? 😦
I was taking a break from doing the month-end payroll when one of my staff asked about the scratch on my car. I was like, what scratch? She replied, the long kind at the front. I immediately got outside to check what she was talking about. Sure enough, a wave-like scratch about the length of a ruler very visible at the front. I instantly got pissed and asked for the cctv playback. Like I expected, the front of my car was not visible on the camera because the post was blocking the view. Even though I’m not a very responsible driver I do care enough not to have scratches and dents, even if its minor. Couldn’t remember really if the scratch was there in the morning at the parking, but I think I would have noticed it before I got in, with its obvious visibility. The hell, if ever I did find out that the suspect was from my work, he’ll be dead. And I mean it.
On the lighter part, I did my very first baking! I had nothing to do and thought I had complete ingredients from my last grocery shopping. Can’t really say it tasted fabulous, but I think its good enough for a first timer!
Ta-daaaa! My first choco chip banana bread ♥
I have a crucial job in the company, which is monitoring our online banking for various transactions daily. I’ve been noticing something lately though. Here’s the situation–
Philseven pays for the 50% electricity of the store. It doesn’t work automatically though, we have to submit the billing and computation, after which we would be reimbursed.
Now, we have taken over a new branch last year. The previous owner was sort of a brute, he was complained of sexual harrassment and was caught on cctv which was broadcasted over a local tv. Anyways, ever since we took over the outlet we have never received any share from them. The guy in charge for the crediting was on leave for a couple of months (seriously, what kind of company would allow this?) and we were able to contact him just recently. He insisted that it was already credited to our account. To cut it short, it was credited to the previous owner still. All almost 600k of it. Holy crap.
He said that he did not know it was of different management already. He was never informed. And we were already operating that site for over a year now. And they are supposed to be a multinational company. I know I’ve heard several stupid things before, but this one tops the list. It was outrageous.
I’m betting my ass that goon already ran away with the money. I know the amount would be reverted to us eventually. I wonder how in the world are they going to retrieve that amount. Give us the money and its not my problem anymore.
I am working in a company that owns several types of businesses, and one of these is a budget hotel. My desk is actually located just behind its reception, and so I have an idea on how their transactions go daily. One of the more recent issues in question is the Agoda booking. I have personally booked thru Agoda before, and what I know is that, once a guest arrived at the hotel, it is already paid by Agoda. And thats what we all at the office thought. Our previous staff, Abby, handled sales of the hotel, and whenever my boss asked her if Agoda paid already thru bank, she would always say yes. But when Abby got fired because of her too many questionable financial discrepancies, we realized upon checking that no amount goes into our account from Agoda. All of us were wondering, even my boss. But one thing I noticed. No one seemed to do anything about it.
When I realized that what if, not the account number of the hotel was in the Agoda record, what if it was Abby’s, or some previous staff, or may even be direct to the account of our wicked business partner? We would surely all be dead from deception.
Despite my numerous emails and calls to the only contact detail IÂ found on the Agoda site, I haven’t got anything back. Its so frustrating to think we might have been deceived. So what I did was, I started from the beginning of the hotel’s email, I was thinking at some point there maybe some sort of communication between us and Agoda. Sure enough, I found its first email back in 2010. I immediately called the landline I got hold of, even the account executive was not connected to them anymore. Good thing the one assigned to us was friendly and helpful. I relayed our situation to her and I was surprised of what I found out. Our agreement with Agoda is supposed to be like this, a guest arrives at the hotel with an Agoda voucher. Included at the bottom of the voucher is a UPC number which will be manually entered into our card terminal, thus would be the payment of Agoda. Holy guacamole.
And we have never done this since, forever.
Meaning, we have never received a Single cent from Agoda ever since. Not their fault of course. Its so annoying thinking how could nobody here knew anything about that agreement. Abby was such a friggin liar. Telling us that yeah Agoda payments were in, when in reality she might be trying to say I don’t know and I’m too stupid to care. And she had the nerve to cry her sorry fat ass off when confronted by the Board. I was too irritated because of people’s ignorance and deceit. To think this is not even my hotel yet.
I was somewhat proud of what I have discovered. Total payment would amount to nearly half a million and I’m still working closely with Agoda to finish this backtracking. I would consider this my greatest achievement in the head office yet. Hopefully I could be more, in the future.
I just went to AMLA seminar of BSP last friday and right about now I’m going to Security Bank in Ayala  for Cebu Pacific’s new payment system. Earlier I replaced all UPS with Omni power strips.
I’m not yet done fixing the computers of our internet cafe since they could not connect to the main server and printer. I’m also monitoring the auto debit of BPI since we’re having problems of debiting on the same day, when our agreement is supposed to be on the next day. I have to ensure the availability of the amount to be debited from all fuel deliveries from yesterday.
I printed stuff on acetate for our Supreme court bidding. I have loads of Travel reports to check. I just penalized one cash custodian for not texting me of their bank pick up amount.  Now my staff is asking for the schedule of our month end inventory. And I forgot to drop off the prepaid cards I purchased from Greenhills yesterday. Plus its already payroll cutoff.
Yes, all these happened in one day.
And it wasn’t even a toxic day. So think about the day when I get really stressed. Sometimes I stop and contemplate what kind of position I’m in, really.
Turned into a Corona case discussion.. 🙂
I’m a bit uneasy about my future task. Monitoring daily balance to secure successful bank debit. I definitely need a back up once I’m out of town/country.
After years of wearing anything I wanted to at work..
I have to wear these. Soon.
Piles of work today. Reports to check. A meeting. Errands. And oh.
Payroll.
Definitely not one of those petiks days. 😦
On the good note, dinner and MIB3 later with tabs. 🙂
